Roll Over, Roll Over

Since John has learned to roll from his back to his tummy (which happened about two weeks ago) he has been going non-stop! The second we put him on his activity mat, he flips and is so proud of himself. He is trying to figure out how to use his arms and legs to get moving-he knows there's something he's supposed to do, but just can't quite put it all together yet. We're not rushing it; we know once he does, our life will definitely change!

Our progress in the sitting up department improves each day! John can sit for about ten seconds now before rolling to one side. He continues to prop himself on his hands out front, and loves for us to sit behind him to help support so he can play.

Let It Snow!

We had a wonderful (and short) time outside earlier today playing in the snow. John looked around in amazement, trying to take it all in-he loved it! What a fun day at home!

Six Months Old

As hard as it is for us to believe, John is six months old! He went today for his checkup and shots. He weighs 19.4 lbs. and is 27.25 in. He was in such a good mood then it was shot time :( He only screamed for a few minutes, though, then was back to being the sweet, happy, curious boy he is. He has grown up so much lately! He is usually in such a happy, pleasant mood. He is very curious about the world around him, and "talks" a LOT. He is trying to sit up, and props up on his hands in front of him. He rolls over and over, often holding on to his toes. He is trying to figure out how to get his arms and legs coordinated for crawling and as always, loves his meals! He is getting a little bored with his bottle, though, so we're going to begin letting him experiement with a sippy cup soon. He has his bottom two teeth, too. He is such a joy!

Christmas

We had a wonderful week of Christmas! After enjoying hosting all of my family the weekend before Christmas, we had Jamie, Matt, Lauren and Sarah over for brunch Christmas Eve morning. That night we went to the always wonderful Christmas Eve service at our church. Mom spends the night with us Christmas Eve, and although John wasn't aware of Santa's visit this year, I'm sure he will be next year! We woke up Christmas morning and enjoyed spending time in our pjs and helping John play with his new toys. Later that morning we headed over to Jamie's for brunch then to New Albany to visit Jason's family. Christmas night was spent at the cabin at Darden, where somehow all 18 of us managed to fit in. After a wonderful dinner and opening gifts, a few of us stayed up watching movies and catching up. It was a perfect first Christmas for John, and we know next year will even be better. We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, too!
