Sitting Pretty

Elizabeth is sitting up by herself now-our sweet girl is growing up!

Congratulations, Bo!

Tonight was Bo's last time to be on the Northeast campus as an instructor...after graduation, she was officially retired! There was a very nice dinner hosted in her honor before graduation this evening, and as was stated, no one (including us) really thinks she's retiring! She has done so much for Northeast and all of the students she has had over the years...not to mention being my advisor and introducing us! :)

Congratulations, Bo! We love you and know you'll be greatly missed!

Eight Months

Look who turned eight months old this week!

Elizabeth is a precious, determined, strong willed girl in a little body. We often refer to her as "Spitfire" because of her spunky personality! I look so forward to seeing how we help her channel that energy for positive in the future. I love this girl to pieces!

Gumtree, Mother's Day, and Slippery When Wet

We started the weekend off by visiting the farmer's market on Saturday for their opening day of the season. We purchased some wonderful salad greens, jam, honey, strawberry bread and an aloe vera plant! John and Elizabeth had a great time listening to the music and seeing all of the delicious foods!

After lunch at Cafe 212, we headed to court square for the Gumtree Festival. We enjoyed visiting lots of friends and seeing beautiful art of all forms.

Taking it all in...

Enjoying the festival!

Saturday night, Jason and I enjoyed the Gumtree musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. Congratulations to the cast and crew for a fabulous performance!

On Sunday, our Sunday School class walked over to the festival that morning when they opened at 10:30 (our church is one block over from the festival site.) Although we had purchased our Mother's Day gifts on Saturday, Jason snuck off at some point and bought the most beautiful glass yard ornament that John and Elizabeth gave me when we arrived home! It is in our future rose garden. John also brought this sweet gift home from playschool last Thursday...

I love this!!!

We enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day lunch at the Hilton, then headed to Big Mama's. She wasn't feeling well, but we enjoyed visiting with Aunt Jane and Uncle Lyle as well. Here are a few photos taken while we were there...

John was not very interested in posing for a Mother's Day photo-he was busy entertaining us!

Elizabeth slept most of the time while we were there...

but then woke up to enjoy the company!

After we got home and John and Elizabeth laid down for late naps, Jason joined his family for an early Mother's Day supper at Newk's after Lauren won a writing award at the Gumtree writing contest. I decided that was a good time to finish potting my plants for the porches. After I watered the last pot, I was headed to put my watering can up when I slipped in a little puddle of water and tumbled down two concrete steps. My left leg and ankle were bent underneath me, and I caught myself with my right hand, with my thumb bent back. Talk about pain! I managed to get inside and call Jason and Mom. Both came right home and we decided I needed a trip to the ER to make sure nothing was broken. After three hours and lots of x-rays, I was sent home with splints for my leg and arm and told to get lots of rest and ice. I spent yesterday and today doing so, and am feeling much better. I plan to return to school tomorrow. And I forever plan to be extra careful when watering my plants!

Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend...injury free! :)

Easter

We dyed our Easter eggs yesterday and John wanted so badly to splash in the dye cups!

Thinking Elizabeth might enjoy seeing them, I sat her on the counter in her Bumbo-but she decided touching was much better, too!

Checking out our baskets and Easter eggs...

Time to put Elizabeth's away-this grass is delicious!

The Easter Bunny came!

We had a wonderful Easter and hope you did too! This is the day which the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
